Holy Moly - I can crochet!!!

Just wanted to share this with my blogging friends - I am not quite sure how it happened, but - I seem to be able to crochet! I have been practising like mad over the past week or two, and there has been much unravelling and starting again, but bit by bit it seems to be clicking into place, (might have something to do with the fact that I'm a Capricorn and can be very determined). There were times when I thought I was never going to 'get' it but finally, on Sunday, I produced a 'Granny Square' and have made two more since (without using the pattern I hasten to add!). The squares measure 6" each, So I reckon 42 or 49 of them will make a good sized blanket.
This is one project I'm determined to finish, as I do have a history of starting lots of different things and never finishing any of them - So I expect you, my blogging friends to keep hassling me on whether I've done any more squares for my blanket.
Its hard to think of needing blankets to snuggle up on the sofa and keep warm, the weather here today is glorious, but I'm sure it will be with us all too soon
Bye for now

Those look fab - lovely colour combination. You see, they really are easy. I've made my first (a little while back), and am aiming to make a blanket in the next 20 years. But I'll happily nag away at someone else - have you done more yet?! ;-)

Well done Natalie, I'm afraid I started learning to crochet in January and had fallen by the wayside by March!
I'd love to make a blanket one day - when I'm about 75 at this rate :)

Hi there I love those squares and you have inspired me to have a go at crochet. I last did some about 30 years ago..oh how long ago that was! I was self taught then and still don't really have a clue. However, I now have my craft club up and running in the village and one of the ladies has said that she will run through the basics with me..so watch this space, or rather my space on my blog because if I ever get the hand of it I will have to announce it to anyone who will listen! Hi again, have decided to put my money where my mouth is and have ordered the Learn to Crochet book that you show in an earlier blog. I had already earmarked it on Amazon a while ago, but your photos prompted me to go for it. Isn't blogging great! Dev X

Oh my Natalie, they are wonderful! I am soooo glad you persevered, I just knew you would "get" it, and would love it. And they look superb, really, I love the way you've done 2 rounds of the lilac round each square to finish, that'll look great once you assemble them all together.
Incidentally, my granny squares were also 6" square and I made 88 of them for my blanket, it was 11 x 8 squares.
You know what, i am SO proud of you!!! :o)

Lets sort a date to get together one wkend to have a Hook and Natter? LEt me know dates you have free in Aug/Sept?
